Jinesh Hegde has made a significant contribution to the growth of Airtel and has consolidated its position as the youth’s favourite telecommunication brand, after assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in 2015. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Hegde possesses decades of experience and expertise in General Management, Business Operations along with a flair for people management in terms of engagement and connectivity.

Prior to the current appointment, Jinesh Hegde functioned as the Senior Vice President and Business Head at Telenor Group, Norway (2009 to 2015), and has served as the lead flagship circle for Telenor during 2014 to 2015. During his tenor at Telenor he also gained expertise in diverse areas including strategy formulation and execution, Revenue Market Share (RMS), Customer Market Share (CMS), brand tracking, PR/media relationship management, retail sales, distribution, top line & bottom line margins (EBITDA) growth, customer service operations, network/IT operations and managing high performing teams of the group (2009 to 2014).

Prior to his appointment as the Chief Vertical Officer of Tata DoCoMo, a subsidiary of Tata Teleservices in 2009, Hegde served at Bharti Airtel Ltd India as the General Manager- Operations (2005 to 2008), where he emerged as the force in building a over 120 Crore business within 3 years. Hegde was twice rewarded as Best Telecom Business Circle in addition to the Best CSat Scores across India in 2006. Subsequently, he served as the Regional Business Head for Voice and VAS business for West (2008 to 2009).

Being a Mechanical Engineer who graduated from Karnatak University in India (1993), Hegde holds an MBA in General Management from the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata (2003). He attended Executive Management programme at INSEAD, France in the fields of Digital, Social Media and Marketing (2013). Hegde pursued his Executive Management studies in Marketing (General) at the London Business School of University of London (2011 – 2012) in addition to pursuing Business Leadership studies in Management and Global Telecom Perspective at Indian School of Business (2009).
